Tiny Tangerines and Big Fears........

Hi all! Over here where I live the weather was okay. The sun was out but you could not tell because it was so cold. Well, okay, maybe I'm overreacting. Since I do get cold almost all the time. I don't think I always had cold hands and feet.....
I went to the flea market today. It must be one of my favorite places to go here in California. Have you ever walked down the fruit and vegetable stands? I love the fresh quality and cheap prices.he he. The merchants are so aggressive. But then again, that's what makes it so much fun. They make loud noises with their tongues and one minute speak English then back to Spanish.
There was a man who was so surprised that I did not want a sample. Usually I am super giddy when I get a sample. But I had filled myself with these tiny tangerines I had bought 2lbs for 1 dollar. love it! lol. I hate it when I get some with seeds, though. I usually don't have the patience to take out the seeds one by one. So I eat them. I don't have patience especially when I'm hungry.
Lately one of my biggest fears has been driving. I find for some odd reason I get massive panic attacks. Why? You may ask. I'm not sure. I usually have to put on some music and breathe in and out. I guess I'm afraid to get into an accident. But then again, who isn't? I'm not a bad driver. But it's my anxiety that cripples me sometimes.
*****I'm looking for some help. I'm in need of a good Monkey Bread recipe. Easter is coming around soon and when it comes to any new recipe I like to test drive it first. Just to make sure I get it right. Do any of you know any good recipe for Monkey Bread? If I do find one I will make sure to post it. Who knows? When Easter comes somebody else might need one too.

Guilty Pleasures

Hi all! The weather where I live started out gloomy now it's evening and the sun has started to come out. yay. Although the wind is knocking peoples socks off right now. Anyways. In the midst of daily chores and errands I succumbed to one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Television re-runs. For some reason I can't do anything in my house without listening to music or having the t.v. on. I don't know how many different series I've watched in one day. Usually I limit myself to a couple hours of watching t.v. But once in a while I slip. What can I say? I'm a recovering addict who relapsed. lol.
What are some of your guilty pleasures? Do you let yourself succumb to temptation?

Spring

Hi all! I love the first day of spring. The smell of nature in the air is almost intoxicating. Another gorgeous day over here where I live. The sun bright a little wind. This morning I got up and what did I notice from my window? My flowers of course! Beautiful shades of orange, purple, white, yellow, pink, and red. I have this fertilizer that makes flowers and vegetables grow bigger. I can't remember the name but I do remember that it's in a purple bag, if that helps. I attempted to take a couple photos of my flower garden, alas to no avail. My camera was being very naughty and was not complying with her mommy. Of course the mental images in my head are a beaut! I just wish I could share them with you guys. Spring vacation is still here and dare I say? I can't wait for it to be over. I love any type of vacation but the less people on the road the better! who likes traffic? Nobody. Especially if you're on a deadline. Sadly I can't say today was a great day. But when I received my package in the mail I became a little girl all over again. There's some kind of satisfaction about getting a package in the mail that makes me all giddy inside. I bought a couple crystal pendants online at least a week and a half ago from this amazing site : http://www.shamanscrystal.co.uk/. If you guys are into the healing arts I'm sure you'll appreciate it. The products are amazing, different sizes and shapes. The shipping is excellent. If you're willing to sacrifice a couple more pennies for upgrade ( which, confessing I did ) What can I say? I am an impatient waiter when it comes to buying things. I want it Now I tell ya. Not tomorrow, Not next week. Now. But, of course that's just the price you pay when you buy online. But, in all seriousness folks this site is amazing. Beautifully crafted pieces. Definitely worth the wait. And p.s. I will be buying again. Just not anytime soon. lol.
I have a new piece I would like to share with you guys. Since it is spring I wanted to share with you a new amigurumi I've come up with. It's a Large spring amigurumi cupcake.

Keeping the Faith

Hi all! Today the weather was perfect. The sun was out and the wind a little breezy. My kind of weather, if i do say so myself. I was busy today running errands and checking mail. I find myself checking mail a lot lately. No surprise there. lol. When I finally got home I felt a little sad. I don't know why. I must admit that I had to do a lot of internal thinking today. I believe in being able to manifest what you want in life. Like attracts Like. So if you start to remind yourself what you like in your life what you're grateful for you can then branch on to thinking of things that you want to change in your life. You want your financial situation to be better? You want to meet that special someone? Think of ways you can change that. What can you do in this moment right now to get what you want? Always remember to think positively even in a bad situation. When you think negatively the outcome will come much worse. But if you think positively you able yourself to see the end of the tunnel.
Today I remembered why it was that I started my business at Etsy. Why it is that I love to crochet. I love the feel of a hook and yarn in my hands. I love the head space I get when I come up with new patterns. I love the satisfaction of a finished project-even if the end result didn't come to my favor-. I know that with determination and will power and faith I can do it. Because there will be a tomorrow. Because today will be the past. And the future-well, the future is just that-. I can't say what will happen in months time. But I can say one thing. I will keep fighting. I will keep trying. Because I have faith. In myself and In God.
I have one question for you guys.
How do you keep the faith in yourself, your family, your friends, or even which ever God you may claim?

Until Next Time.
Teana.

Owls at Etsy and my introspection days

Hi all! How are you guys doing today? I am very happy to report beautiful weather where I live. Which I must admit is a nice pace to have seeing as how it's been raining for quite a while. I haven't been doing much today. I took a couple of pictures ( another reason I love sunny days ). I will make sure to post them next time I blog. I went to kaiser today and the pharmacy was packed! They have this new policy where you have to go in person to check-in if you want your prescription the same day. Which totally sucks. Not only do you have to wait in the check-in line you then have to wait 20-35 minutes for it to be filled you then have to wait in the check-out line. I say kaiser should really come up with a drive-thru. It would make it easier for some who cannot stand for too long.

I've been doing some introspection lately. My choice of healing would be writing. I find that method to be very cleansing for me. But I also look to God and my grandpa for guidance. When I have a conflict within myself or a problem in my life I pray, meditate, sometimes cry, and let it go. There are things that we cannot control and for those times I say let it go whatever happens, happens. But it is up to you how you deal with the end result. Staying in a positive frame of mind ( especially these days ) really does help.
Let me ask you guys a question. Who do you turn to when you have a conflict? And how do you stay in a positive frame of mind?

Anyways.......

I was browsing over Etsy today and found one of my current obsessions. OWLS. I love them. Some really neat things I found are right below:

Hi all! I just wanted to let you all know about my newest shop item by Bellaworks @ Etsy. $6.00

Family Values and Scheduled Dinners

Hi all! I can't believe I haven't posted anything for a couple days. I went to a dinner once ( a couple months ago ) to celebrate my great aunts birthday. I noticed how family oriented her stepsons and stepdaughters were with another. They talked, laughed, conversed, and drank. It was so different to me it seemed almost foreign. I remember thinking to myself what it would be like for my family to be that way. And I longed to have that.
Well yesterday was a Saturday and lately I've been feeling the need to connect with my family. So I scheduled ( yup that's right, scheduled ) a family dinner. One of my uncles from Sacramento was coming ( shh....a little secret I'll share because I'm so exited, I'm collecting jewelry stones and the such for a shop I hope to open in fall of 2012. He has great connections to real gem stones which I happen to love.)  I wasn't sure exactly who else to invite so at the last minute I decided to call up my cousin who lives close to me. The grand total of persons were five ( me, my grandma, my cousin, and my two uncles), which I'm darned proud of.
I woke up early in the morning and started preparations for the night. I set the table really nice with dishes and silverware. I made green beans, salad, homemade dressing, spaghetti and meatballs, bread, sweet potatoes, apple pie and ice cream. ( The only thing is I wish I had taken some pictures so I could show you guys. Next time I definitely will. ) After dinner I let my family know why I had made dinner for them. I told them I thought it would be good for the family to be closer. And that once in a while it is a must to get together at the dinner table. And, hey, if I have to schedule it a couple weeks in advance, them I'm fine with that.
So let me ask you guys this.
When it comes to family values and dinner where do you guys stand? How do you get your families together over the table?

And I can't forget to give a little recipe I made for my homemade salad dressing:
so here it goes:

1/2 cup ketchup
1 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 garlic clove
1 tbsp chopped parsley
1 tbsp sugar ( depending on how sweet you want it )
1 pinch of salt
1/2 tsp of pepper

p.s. I like to keep it in a jar and let it marinate in the fridge for a couple hours before serving.
p.p.s. I also like to shake the jar a couple times right before I toss it in the salad.

no flour Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

Hi guys! When I'm not cleaning or making new patterns occasionally you'll find me baking up a storm. I like to think of myself as a self proclaimed novice when it comes to baking. Today I felt like eating cookies so I thought to myself why not make oatmeal cookies? I take in account girl math in my head when I eat one. Since everything in the recipe is totally healthy you don't have to worry about feeding your family and friends something bad. I like to alternate other things in the batter like ginger powder and things like raisins. Next time I definitely will put in some dark chocolate to the mix. Everything tastes better with chocolate, right?

so for any of you that would like this recipe here you go:
1 cup of sugar ( i like to use 1/2 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup regular )
1/4 cup of shortening ( i substitute that for Mediterranean oil )
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups rolled oats
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon

yield: 8 big cookies    temp: 375 about 10 minutes

Of course you guys can mix it up and omit things and put whatever you like or whatever sounds good to you. And please let me know if you ended up using the recipe. I would love to hear how it turned out.

p.s. please forgive the santa tray in the picture. I just grabbed whatever I could find. =)

It's finally here!

Hi all! I am proud to announce my shop is open at Etsy.com What attracted me to this site was not only the camaraderie amongst the sellers and buyers, but how artistic and talented every seller is. If you haven't checked it out please do you never know what you might find. And don't forget to check out Bellaworks at Etsy.

Here are a few pics of my new Geisha Amigurumi doll. Isn't she cute? I love the purple color on her Kimono dress. While thinking of what pattern to make next I thought of what inspires me. I love when art is integrated with culture. One of my favorite cultures would be Japan. And I thought why not make a geisha doll.

Allright dolls. Until next time. -T
